Halton Police faced two shooting incidents in Oakville this weekend-one leading to an arrest. The first shooting happened on Friday around noon when a suspect, driving a vehicle, fired several shots at another vehicle following him on Progress Court, close to the South Service Road.
Fortunately, no one was hit or hurt during the shooting, and the suspect’s vehicle sped off eastbound on the South Service Road towards Fourth Line. Authorities think this shooting was intentional.
Police later apprehended the suspect, Justin Tasevski (29 yrs) from Brampton, charging him with two counts of attempted murder along with other firearm-related charges and for not complying with a release order. Tasevski is currently in custody and appeared before a court on March 29; he is set to appear again on April 1 in Milton.
Investigators believe this incident was targeted and are not looking for additional suspects. However, police have yet to find the weapon used in this crime and are asking anyone with information about it or who may have seen what happened to reach out to the Major Crime Bureau tip line at 905-825-4777 ext. 4776.
Then early Sunday around 5:30 am, police received reports of another shooting near Lakeshore Road and Fourth Line.
Investigators suspect that this second shooting was also targeted; one male was taken to the hospital with injuries that aren’t life-threatening.
The police are looking for witnesses who might have seen the shooting or have relevant dashcam footage from that area.
They specifically want dashcam video recorded between 5:00 a. m. and 6:30 a. m. at these locations:
Lakeshore Road and Fourth Line, Oakville; Lakeshore Road between Fourth Line and Southdown Road, Mississauga; Ford Drive from Lakeshore Road to the QEW; and Winston Churchill Boulevard from Lakeshore Road to the QEW.
