Kingston police are still looking for suspects after two pedestrians were hurt by pellets shot from an airsoft rifle on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said they began investigating two separate incidents involving a firearm early Tuesday afternoon: the first happened at Russell and Patrick streets, while the second took place on Palace Road near Park Street.

“The incidents involve a black vehicle, possibly a Ford, with four passengers. In both cases, people sitting in the back of the vehicle were seen firing a long gun style air rifle at pedestrians,” police mentioned in an alert posted on their website.

“In both incidents pedestrians were struck with projectiles shot from the gun.”

In the first incident, one pedestrian was hit in the face with a projectile and had to go to the hospital, said Const. Anthony Colangeli. Then, just five minutes later, another person was struck multiple times but didn’t require hospitalization.

“[Airsoft rifles] can be quite powerful and shoot over 300 feet per second and they can cause permanent injuries, especially if you’re hit in the eye or facial area with one of them,” Colangeli explained.

He mentioned that it’s unclear what type of projectile was used.

The police believe that people were shot at random during these events.

Cops are urging residents to stay alert about these incidents and report any suspicious activity. If anyone spots the suspect vehicle, they should call 911.

No other incidents have been reported yet, but police stated that no suspects are currently in custody.

An investigation is ongoing.
