I’m the Mayor of the Town of Oakville and a Halton regional councillor. Before getting into politics, I completed a Master of Science degree at Columbia University. My background includes being a journalist, a film and TV producer (I started on the popular CBC show Marketplace), and founding YTV, Canada’s network for kids and teens. I also led the Ontario Production Industry Council and served on the board of the Directors Guild of Canada.
I’ve lived in Oakville for 32 years, including Glen Abbey (Ward 4 at that time, now Ward 2), Eastlake (Ward 3), and College Park (Ward 5).
Previous political experience
My journey as your mayor has spanned 20 years after starting as a community organizer with my residents’ association, sports groups, and environmental organizations. I’ve often presented to town council advocating for growth to fund growth while ensuring Oakville meets our community’s needs – you can find more about my credentials at robburton. ca, which includes my experience serving on the police board for 11 years (7 as Chair).
If re-elected what would your priorities be?
I plan to work with council to:
Keep tax increases aligned with inflation through performance-driven budgeting while boosting non-tax revenue like Oakville Enterprises’ $12.2 million annual dividend. Address our needs: another North Oakville community center; more green space reserves; complete Bronte waterfront along with Bronte and Kerr village streetscapes; build a new library and design a fresh performing arts center to finish off the Downtown Cultural Hub while transitioning our bus fleet to electric. Get the Province’s promised 38-storey Midtown proposal to council for approval or rejection. Enforce limits on data centers to reduce noise issues and protect our water supply along with our power grid. Defend against Trump economic attacks by engaging globally alongside our existing tariff task force, buy-local policies, business concierge service, robust economic development efforts while keeping jobs at Ford plant here. Formulate an effective lobbyist registry. Collaborate to maintain Oakville as one of the safest communities with high crime solution rates by continuing resident-supported traffic calming measures while pushing for provincial action regarding e-bikes and e-scooters while executing the fire service master plan for optimal protection. Advance Livable Oakville Plan focusing on growth around transit nodes and corridors while preserving heritage along with adding parks, trees, trails, and bike paths.

Previous political experience
I haven’t held any elected office before this run; I’m running independently without party affiliations. In 2025 I was part of the Government Relations Committee at Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA), working on matters related to housing policy along with municipal infrastructure.
If elected what will your priorities be?
I want town hall focused back on serving Oakville residents.
First off is managing your money better. I’ll freeze town property taxes share for 2027 funded through a thorough audit of all spending. All policy meetings will be public access events; within first hundred days I’ll report back on each promise made.
Second is managing growth responsibly so it matches what we can handle in Oakville- I’ll pause high-density permits in Midtown releasing closed door records tied to those approvals first prioritzing roads schools water resources emergency services before more tall buildings go up. I’ll waive development fees targeting families needing affordable two or three-bedroom townhomes enabling young families seniors remaining local.
The third point is safety-this involves prioritizing emergency services enhancing policing initiatives plus creating Senior Shield Task Force aimed protecting older citizens from frauds targeting them.
The fourth aspect revolves around local job creation- I’m dedicated towards bringing good paying opportunities approximating five thousand positions centered around medical technology clean tech industries instead huge data centers flooding area.
And lastly , preserve unique charm features making this place special starting off traditions such as Canada Day celebrations hosted Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park permanently!
Less than twenty-five percent participated last elections-please remember cast vote October twenty-sixth! p >
