OSHAWA – Authorities in Oshawa, Ont., are on the lookout for a suspect following the death of a 23-year-old man after a brawl outside a Tim Hortons.
The Durham Regional Police Service reports they responded to an alert on Saturday night about an armed individual and discovered a young man with serious injuries who was later declared dead at the scene.
According to police, it appears that there was an altercation between two groups of men outside the Tim Hortons in the northern part of the city that resulted in fatal injuries for the victim.
Police have initiated an extensive search using canine and air support units to find the suspect and other men who fled from the location, but so far they have not been able to locate them.
Investigators think this is an isolated event and assure that there are no threats to public safety.
The homicide unit is conducting an investigation, and police are urging anyone who was near 2700 Simcoe Street North between 7:30 p. m. and 9:00 p. m. who might have video footage of what happened to reach out to authorities.
