Officers from the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with emergency teams responded to a car accident on Highway 7 at Television Road that involved an OPP vehicle. On Sunday, October 19, 2025, at around 1:40 PM, Peterborough County OPP were alerted about a crash that had just happened at the intersection of Highway 7 and Television Road. They learned that one of the vehicles was an unmarked cruiser belonging to the OPP and driven by an officer who was on duty. The other vehicle involved was a pickup truck with four people inside. Following the accident, all individuals in both vehicles were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries as well as for precautionary reasons. The intersection of Highway 7 / Highway 115 and Television Road remained closed for several hours while emergency crews managed the scene and police members trained in collision reconstruction took measurements and documented everything. The investigation into what caused the crash is still underway.
