At 4:29 p. m. on Saturday, Environment Canada issued a tornado warning due to a severe thunderstorm near Komoka Provincial Park, which is located west of London.
Later on, Western University put out a shelter-in-place order for people “in the UWO area” and has since provided an “all-clear” update.
Western campus safety and emergency services also sent an Alert Western U advisory to students stating “tornado warning is expected to impact Western University. You can expect to see severe weather.”
At 4:38 p. m., Western CSES issued a critical alert telling community members to “shelter-in-place.” By 5 p. m., the university had shared an “all-clear update.”
“This is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Tornado warnings are issued when a thunderstorm is producing or is likely to produce a tornado,” wrote Environment Canada in their warning.
