Halton Regional Police have taken into custody and charged a former worker from an Oakville dental office after looking into claims of the theft exceeding $235,000.
According to police, the inquiry started in April 2025 when it was reported that a previous employee had been funneling business funds into bank accounts he controlled while employed there. Investigators later found that over $235,000 had supposedly been misappropriated between May 2023 and January 2025.
On May 1, 2026, police arrested Ngoc Tuan Nguyen, 36, from Mississauga. He faces charges of Fraud Over $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, and Laundering Proceeds of Crime.
Nguyen has been released on an undertaking and is set to appear in court in Milton at a future date.
Authorities suspect the accused may have worked at additional dental offices and indicate there could be more victims. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the HRPS Financial Crimes Unit.
