Ford’s Oakville plant in Ontario is gearing up for the assembly of Super Duty pickups.
The company aims to have trucks ready for dealerships by the end of this year.
Ford officials confirmed this to Auto123 during the launch event for the 2027 Super Duty Carhartt edition held earlier this week.
With much excitement, Ford first announced plans to build Super Duty trucks in Oakville back in July 2024. Since then, changes in the North American economy and political scene have occurred. Nevertheless, Ford is committed to moving forward as promised.

In recent weeks, workers at the Oakville facility have started returning. For now, they are busy putting together pre-production models.
Besides assembling Super Duty pickups, the Oakville plant will also handle stamping, which is an essential part of making vehicles.
Trucks destined for Canada and beyond
Matthew Drennan-Scace, communications head for Ford Canada, told Auto123 that some of the trucks made in Oakville will be aimed at the Canadian market. A share of production will also be sent to other markets like the United States. However, he mentioned that customers won’t be able to choose where their ordered truck is manufactured. This past April, Ford saw a 6.4% rise in Super Duty sales compared to April 2025. The order books for the 2027 Ford Super Duty opened today, May 8.
