OPP are looking for the driver of a vehicle that they say fatally hit a woman who had fallen from another moving car on New Year’s Day.

Police report that the incident occurred around 5:45 a. m. on January 1 in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401, just past the Dixie Road collectors.

Sgt. Kerry Schmidt mentioned that the 32-year-old woman from Scarborough was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The driver and the vehicle that struck this person may not even know what they struck,” Schmidt said in a video posted to X.

The vehicle involved is described as a white or light-coloured Toyota or Nissan, and it may have damage to the front driver’s side.

Mississauga OPP are eager to talk to the driver and urge them, or anyone with details about the incident, to get in touch with police.
