A 36-year-old man from Mississauga, Elijah Benjamin, is now facing more charges related to a human trafficking investigation by Toronto Police. This follows earlier charges made in July, increasing the total number of identified victims to three women. The investigation revealed that Benjamin allegedly connected with women through dating apps and then exploited them for sex across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and other parts of Ontario.

Your Rights and Options

Victims of human trafficking in Ontario have important legal rights and access to support services. Canadian law offers protection for victims, along with specific provisions for support services and legal aid. The justice system seeks to hold offenders accountable for crimes such as trafficking in persons, procuring, and benefiting from prostitution. If you or someone you know has been affected, it’s essential to realize that help is available and you can seek justice.

The Criminal Code of Canada sets out harsh penalties for those found guilty of human trafficking and related offenses, highlighting how seriously these crimes are regarded. If you’ve been impacted by similar situations and need clarity on your legal options, our legal team can offer confidential advice and assistance.
