Get Ahead of the Crowd: Vote Early in Mississauga

Voters can kick off Mississauga’s 2026 Municipal Election with advance voting from October 6 to 11.

The City of Mississauga urges eligible voters to take advantage of early voting before Election Day on Monday, October 26. Advance voting offers more days and various locations for casting your ballot ahead of time. It’s the same process but gives you the flexibility to vote when it’s most convenient for you.

By using advance voting, you can make your experience smoother, cut down on waiting times, and have greater flexibility. If you’re busy with work, school, caregiving duties, travel plans, or other commitments on October 26, early voting can help you make arrangements to ensure your voice is heard.

You can vote early from Tuesday, October 6 through Sunday, October 11. On October 6 and 7, advance voting will be available at Mississauga City Hall (300 City Centre Dr.). From October 8 to 11, there will be multiple locations across the city where you can vote at any advance polling place.

On Election Day, eligible voters should go to a polling location in their own ward where they live or own property. You’ll be casting your vote for Mayor, Ward/Regional Councillor and School Board Trustees. Make sure to bring your Voter notification card (if you’ve received one) along with one piece of acceptable identification.

Before you cast your vote

Take a few moments before voting to confirm you’re eligible, check that your voter information is accurate and know where you’ll be able to cast your ballot. This will help speed up the process and assist election staff in providing the correct ballot.

Vote in person

If you’re eligible, you can choose to vote in person during advance voting or on Election Day itself. During advance voting periods, feel free to visit any available polling location throughout Mississauga. On Election Day though, you’ll need to go specifically to a location within your ward.

To simplify things when you vote, double-check that you’re listed as a voter beforehand. If you’ve gotten a Voter notification card in the mail, bring it along; while it’s not mandatory for voting it does provide helpful information that may expedite your visit.

You need one piece of acceptable identification displaying both your name and qualifying address in Mississauga such as:

Vote by proxy

If you’re unable to attend either during advance voting or on Election Day itself, consider having someone else who is an eligible voter act as a proxy for you.

Your proxy must also meet eligibility requirements for voting in Mississauga. You both need to fill out an Appointment for Voting Proxy Form which must be certified by Mississauga’s Clerk’s Office by no later than 5 p. m. on Monday, October 26. Discover more about this option.

Vote from Front Door Pilot Program

The City is introducing a Vote from Front Door initiative for the upcoming Municipal Election in 2026. To participate you’d need to be an eligible voter; however availability is limited.

This pilot program aims at assisting individuals who can’t leave home due to health issues or mobility restrictions without someone available who could act as their proxy.
