Frank Scarpitti now makes over $308,000 a year, following an increase in council salaries of around eight to nine percent according to the city’s latest pay disclosure.

Markham’s mayor currently earns more than $308,000 annually after council salaries were raised by about eight to nine percent in the recent remuneration report.

The city’s yearly statement of pay and expenses reveals that Mayor Frank Scarpitti’s total earnings increased from $283,899 to $308,179 in 2025, which is an uptick of approximately $24,280.

This amount includes compensation from the City of Markham, the Region of York, and associated municipal agencies like Markham District Energy and Alectra.

Regional Councillor Michael Chan’s earnings went up to $178,356 from $170,467, while Jim Jones’s salary rose to $169,516 from $161,182.

Regional councillors Joe Li and Alan Ho each saw their pay increase from $157,182 to $165,016.

For ward councillors, most salaries climbed from about $102,382 to around $111,233 reflecting a similar percentage hike.

Councillor Andrew Keyes’ pay grew to $124,233 from $112,006. Meanwhile Amanda Collucci’s jumped from $103,382 to $112,733.

The disclosure also details discretionary expenses such as mileage costs for travel related meetings or conferences and office supplies along with expenses directed by council including training sessions and business trips.

Mayor Scarpitti’s discretionary costs slightly increased from $25,450 to $26,263 while councillors’ expenses varied based on travel needs events they attended and other activities they engaged in.

The total pay figures do not account for benefits as stated in the report.

Ontario municipalities are mandated under the Municipal Act to publicly share information regarding elected officials’ compensation and expenditures every year.
