Authorities have filed manslaughter charges following a fatal assault at a Waterloo business on Monday night.

Officers were dispatched to a location on King St. N. near Young St. W. around 12:45 a. m. Monday due to reports of an assault.

Upon arrival, they discovered a 62-year-old man who was unconscious and had sustained a head injury. He was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, but he passed away the following day due to those injuries.

On Thursday, the major crime unit of Waterloo Regional Police Service arrested a 37-year-old man from Kitchener and charged him with manslaughter.

This individual is currently in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Investigators believe that this incident was isolated and that no weapons were used.

If you have any information, please contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
