They said conditions were right for storms that could bring heavy rainfall and damaging winds. Meteorologists warned that gusts could reach up to 90 km/h as storms quickly moved northeast. The national weather agency indicated this system is linked to a departing low-pressure area. The worst weather is expected late morning into early afternoon. In their forecast for Kingston released Wednesday, Environment Canada warned of “showers beginning after midnight” with a risk of thunderstorms producing “local amounts of 10 to 15 mm,” followed by another five to ten mm throughout Thursday. This could mean total rainfall in some locations reaching between 15-25 millimeters or even higher where severe thunderstorms repeatedly pass over specific areas. The Weather Network shares similar forecasts predicting about 15 millimeters of rain on Thursday, with heaviest showers expected during morning hours. The Kingston Whig-Standard's Noon News RoundupYour weekday lunchtime roundup of curated links, news highlights, analysis and features.By signing up you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc.!A welcome email is coming soon. Both Environment Canada along with The Weather Network predict further chances for showers through this weekend stretching into early next week , including a more organized rainy period come Monday. This heavy rainfall follows increased water levels seen across Kingston due largely due wet spring conditions according Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA).In shoreline conditions statement extended June12 th , authority reported Lake Ontario’s level at Kingston measured around75.35 meters - roughly five centimeters over its monitoring threshold- though still well below official flood thresholds. This advertisement has not loaded yet but your article continues below..Article contentThe agency mentioned water levels have stabilized recently so may continue slowly declining if average or drier weather holds steady , however they cautioned against “higher water levels being possible if wetter-than-average conditions return”.Officials observed lake remains approximately35 centimetersabove regular summer peak levels indicating greater riskof localized shoreline impacts especially when strong winds or storm surges coincidewith elevated waterlevels.Your reportindicating CRCA update points out Lake Ontario’s elevations remain raised but stable following spring surge causedby continuous precipitation throughout Great Lakes basin While widespread flooding isn’t anticipated authority did warnlocalized effects like erosion wave actionand minor floodingin lowerlying areas could still occur. The CRCA previously stressedweather remains key factorin determining flood risks noting earlier advisories showabove-average rainfallcan rapidly raisewaterlevels throughout Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River system. This advertisement hasn’t loadedyet butyour article continues below..Your reporting indicatesthe conservation authority detailedonits flood forecastingand warning information pageworkswith Environment Canadato monitor precipitation runoffand waterlevels issuingflood outlooksor warningsas necessary basedon currentconditions./Scripting/Statements/Outputs !@# $%&*^!{}?+-=,.,..#&* = `~|}{[]_""' +\/*--=-=-----==`( )( ) ).
