Piner will showcase Kingston’s music scene during Capital Music Week in Ottawa.
Kingston is being represented on the Ottawa River this week as part of a unique live music cruise featuring artists from all over Ontario.
Piner will be representing Kingston at the Ontario Music Cities showcase, performing alongside musicians chosen from Mississauga, London, Toronto, Hamilton, and Ottawa.
This event is part of Capital Music Week, a nine-day celebration of music happening throughout Ottawa from Oct. 2 to 10.
Executive director Melanie Brulee shares more details.
Over 100 artists are taking part in this year’s festival, with performances and various programs set for 25 venues around the city.
The Ontario Music Cities cruise will shine a light on the music created in communities across the province while allowing artists to connect with new audiences.
Capital Music Week also features concerts, showcases, workshops, industry events, and the Capital Music Awards.
The Ontario Music Cities showcase gives Kingston an opportunity to highlight its local music scene alongside some of Ontario’s biggest music hubs. Brulee mentions that Kingston has an impressive reputation for artists.
The awards ceremony will occur on Oct. 9 at the National Arts Centre, honoring artists and music professionals across 13 different categories.
