Hamilton Public Health officials are looking into a salmonella outbreak tied to the Piper Arms Stoney Creek, located at 1786 Stone Church Road East, Stoney Creek.

So far, there have been 13 confirmed cases. Six individuals have needed hospitalization due to their illness.

Symptoms reported include diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain and chills.

Officials mention that another 44 people have experienced symptoms similar to salmonella infection after dining at the restaurant, but those cases haven’t been confirmed through lab tests yet.

Salmonella and Food safety with Trevor Craig

No particular food item has been identified as the cause of the illness as of now.

As part of their investigation, Hamilton Public Health has ordered the temporary closure of Piper Arms Stoney Creek starting April 13, 2026, to aid in the ongoing investigation and ensure public safety.

Public Health has collaborated closely with the operator to review food handling and sanitation practices and has taken food samples for laboratory analysis. Currently, no specific issues requiring corrective action have been found; however, this closure allows Public Health to complete their investigation and confirm that everything is safe before reopening.
