Hamilton police report that a shooting on September 18, 2026, at Cochrane and Lawrence roads has resulted in two individuals suffering non-life-threatening injuries. One suspect is now in custody while another remains at large. One person has been arrested while another suspect is still being sought. Authorities state the shooting occurred on Friday afternoon in the eastern part of the city near Cochrane and Lawrence roads. Local businesses reported to CHCH News that around 2:30 p. m., they heard several gunshots fired. Residents informed CHCH News that access to the apartment building directly across from where police were investigating was restricted. One resident shared he assisted a victim who claimed he had been shot in the leg. The victim mentioned it took place in the parking lot of the apartment complex. According to investigators, Rosedale, Viscount Montgomery, and St. Eugene elementary schools were temporarily placed under hold and secure protocols but have since returned to normal operations.
