Fire Tragedy Claims One Life in Peterborough

A man has died and two others are hospitalized after a house fire in Peterborough, Ont., early Wednesday morning.

The Peterborough Police Service reports that emergency crews were dispatched around 3:30 a. m. to a structure fire on Mc Donnel Street near Park Street North.

Peterborough Fire Services concentrated their efforts on the back of the house.

According to police, a 27-year-old man was found inside and taken to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Despite attempts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Two other residents were also taken to PRHC for care. Their injuries are still being assessed.

The police and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
