Police report that the victim, a 40-year-old man from Innisfil, was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after an alleged argument.

An 18-year-old male has been charged following a stabbing incident in south-end Barrie yesterday.

Barrie police state that the suspect was arrested on Monday after a “serious assault” at a home near Yonge Street and Cox Mill Road around 9:30 a. m.

When they arrived, officers spoke with witnesses who identified the suspect as an 18-year-old male known to the victim, who is a 40-year-old man from Innisfil.

“Police quickly located the accused and placed him under arrest,” police said in a statement. “A second male fled the scene after talking to investigators, which led to a short foot chase. He was apprehended but later released unconditionally once it was determined he wasn’t involved.”

The victim was taken to the hospital by local paramedics with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“Officers found out that the victim had been stabbed multiple times during a dispute with the suspect,” police mentioned.

The 18-year-old suspect is facing charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

All allegations remain unproven in court.

The investigation is ongoing.
