Advance voting has begun as of Wednesday for the Hamilton East-Stoney Creek provincial byelection.
From Aug. 26 to Aug. 28, voters can cast their ballots at any of three advance voting locations in the riding, open from 10 a. m. to 8 p. m.
The locations are:
Pat Quinn Parkdale Arena, 1770 Main St. E., Hamilton Stoney Creek Recreation Centre, 45 King St. W., Stoney Creek Winona Community Centre, 255 Winona Rd., Stoney Creek
On election day, Sept. 3, voters can also vote at their designated polling place.
This byelection was announced following former Progressive Conservative MPP Neil Lumsden’s retirement on Aug. 4 from his seat in Hamilton East-Stoney Creek.
To participate in the Ontario byelection, individuals must be at least 18 years old, Canadian citizens, and residents of Ontario.
Elections Ontario’s Voter Information Service allows voters to check where and when they can vote. They can also confirm if they’re registered or update their information on the voter list.

Candidates Debate Streaming Thursday
Voters will have six candidates to choose from, with three participating in a televised debate this Thursday evening. The debate will air on Cable 14 and its You Tube channel starting at 7 p. m. Cable 14 stated that all candidates from major political parties will take part except for the Progressive Conservative (PC) candidate. CBC Hamilton reached out to PC candidate Jeff Beattie for comments but did not receive a response before publication. The other five candidates include: Heather Curnew, Ontario Party. Wieslawa Derlatka, New Blue Party. Heino Doessing, Ontario Liberal Party. Pascale Marchand, Green Party of Ontario. Monique Taylor, Ontario New Democratic Party. The Cable 14 debate is set just one week ahead of voting day on Sept. 3. This byelection is one of three being held across Ontario along with those in Scarborough Southwest and York-Simcoe.
