The Guelph Police Service shared news of the arrests on Wednesday, stating that they followed an “extensive investigation” into the child’s death.
Emergency services were called to an apartment close to the downtown area on Jan. 25, 2023 after reports surfaced that a child had been discovered dead inside the home.
A four-year-old child was also residing in the home at that time.
The 36-year-old man and 30-year-old woman, both from Guelph, face charges of criminal negligence causing death and two counts of failing to provide necessities of life for a child.
