Four swimmers from the Burlington Aquatic Devilrways Swimming Club (BAD) will be competing in the Ontario Swimming Championships next week in Scarborough.
The Hamilton-based Golden Horseshoe Aquatic Club (GHAC) will be sending ten members. Out of those ten, four are former BAD members.
BAD Coach Sergei Soloukhin with 15-year-old Ella Markowsky. The boys, each 11 years old, are from the left: Seamus Hilson, Remi Jacquemart and Heinrich Meissner-Roloff during a practice session earlier today.
Coach Soloukhin mentioned that these four swimmers mark the beginning of a competitive revival for the club, which has been adapting since Burlington changed pool allocation times, leading to a significant decrease in BAD club membership.
Soloukhin explains that nurturing a young swimmer takes time and patience. Many find it challenging and might switch to another local club if they can’t get enough pool time at their current one.
“These are very competitive young swimmers who work very hard to reach their best time in the sport they have chosen. I’m proud to have them with the club.”
