The national month-by-month winter forecast provides insights into the season across Canada.

This winter, Ontario is expected to experience flurries, significant snowfall, and “frigid” temperatures.

The Canadian edition of the Old Farmer’s Almanac contains a detailed forecast with seasonal specifics, monthly summaries, and weekly weather predictions for winter 2026 and 2027 across all provinces.

Ontario’s forecast region covers northern and central areas as well as the entire southern part of the province.

As per the Old Farmer’s Almanac, Ontario will face colder-than-usual conditions in the east while the west remains warmer. The coldest spells are anticipated in mid and late January and early and late February.

Despite below-normal precipitation levels, above-average snowfall is predicted. The heaviest snowfalls in Ontario are likely to occur in early and late January as well as mid-March.

Here’s what you need to know about Ontario’s monthly winter outlook.

November

From November 1 to November 6, expect sunny and warm weather throughout Ontario.

Then from November 7 to November 11, some showers are expected in the east while sunshine will prevail in the west. Temperatures during this week will be mild.

Sunny but chilly conditions will follow from November 12 to 17, transitioning to snowy and cool weather from November 18 to November 22.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac forecasts rain showers along with milder temperatures between November 23 and November 26.

Expect flurries along with colder temperatures in Ontario from November 27 to November 30.

December

The beginning of December will bring flurries followed by rain with mild temperatures from December 1 to December 7.

From December 8 through December 13, eastern regions can expect flurries while western areas may see snow. Temperatures will drop significantly that week.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts more flurries for eastern parts of Ontario from December 14 to December 22; however, western regions will likely experience rain showers along with milder conditions overall.

Between December 23 and December 31, expect flurries alongside mild temperatures in the east but snowy periods with cold weather in the west.

January

You can anticipate heavy snow combined with cold temperatures between January 1 and January 10.

Around January11 through January17 there’ll be light flurries accompanied by “very cold” conditions.

Snow showers along with low temperatures are predicted for January18 until January22.

The last days of January (January23-31) could see heavy snowfall followed by light flurries amid “bitter cold” temps across Ontario.

February

The first week of February (February1-7) should be bright but “frigid.”

A mix of occasional rain along with snow showers is on tap from February8 until February20 when milder temps might occur during that time frame.

If you’re looking ahead towards February21-28 expect more snow showers mixed with “quite cold” temperatures according to findings shared by the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

March

Date range March1-7 appears packed full of flurries coupled together again any lingering chilliness experienced throughout these days.

Towards March8-12 sunny yet chilly climes returns once again covering parts within Ontarios landscapes.

Mildly warming up soon after , heavy snows paired closely behind leading straight towards light passing flakes appear set between March13-20.
