Authorities suspect that a man discovered deceased in Hamilton on July 15 was murdered in Brampton.
A truck driver whose body was found near Hamilton last week is believed to have been killed in Brampton before being transported and left at the site where he was located, according to police.
Hamilton Police have confirmed that a second crime scene linked to the homicide of 29-year-old Taranpreet Singh Sidhu from Brampton has been identified. His remains were discovered near the Lake Ontario shoreline in Stoney Creek on July 15.
Initially, investigators expressed confidence that Sidhu was not killed at the location where his body was found. Now, Hamilton Police have established that this second crime scene is situated in Brampton and has ties to the trucking sector.
Sidhu’s body was found in a culvert close to the northern end of Fruitland Road shortly after 8:15 a. m. on July 15. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Hamilton Police have not disclosed details about how he died or provided information regarding any potential suspects or vehicles involved in moving Sidhu’s body.
Sidhu immigrated to Canada from India in 2022 and had lived in both Brampton and Halifax while working as a truck driver.
Police report that Sidhu had just returned to Canada after completing a trucking job in the United States. Investigators believe that the shipment he carried was legitimate and had successfully passed through Canada Border Services Agency checks, with Brampton as its intended destination.
The trailer associated with this trip has been secured by police as they attempt to piece together Sidhu’s movements leading up to his death.
Hamilton Police are collaborating with Peel Regional Police during this investigation.
Investigators are urging anyone who interacted with Sidhu or who may possess information about his whereabouts prior to his death to come forward. They are particularly interested in surveillance footage, dash cam recordings, or doorbell camera videos that could assist their efforts.
