A man has died following a shooting incident in Brampton on Thursday night, according to police.

Officers arrived after receiving reports of gunfire near Sandalwood Parkway and Crown Victoria Drive, close to Creditview Road, at around 7:10 p. m., stated Const. Tyler Bell-Morena from Peel Regional Police.

At the scene, police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds; however, he was later declared dead, Bell-Morena confirmed.

Investigators are currently searching for two suspects who reportedly escaped the area in a dark sedan. The only details available about them are that they have medium builds and were dressed in dark clothing during the incident, as mentioned by Bell-Morena.

The police are still working on identifying the victim and informing their family members. It’s not clear yet if this shooting was intentional, but Bell-Morena noted that it occurred within a residence.

“We think that this is a targeted style shooting. Again, that doesn’t mean that the person that was shot was the intended target,” he said, adding that authorities don’t believe the incident was random or that the suspects remain nearby.

There will be more police presence in the neighborhood as investigators talk to local residents and look for video footage, he added.

If anyone has information or video related to this case, they’re encouraged to reach out to Peel police or Crime Stoppers.
