A fire late Wednesday night has resulted in one fatality at a residence in Brampton, Ont.
Brampton fire Chief Andy Glynn informed reporters on Thursday that they received several reports of flames at a semi-detached house close to Rutherford Road and Williams Parkway just before 11 p. m.

The fire was located on the second floor, where they discovered an individual inside. Despite efforts to save them, they were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Glynn. There were no other occupants in the home at that time. More on Canada More videos The cause of the fire remains unknown; however, Glynn mentioned it may have started in a bedroom on the second floor. He also noted that the residence was registered as a two-unit apartment. “When crews arrived, they did not hear a smoke alarm, but the investigation will determine whether there were working smoke alarms,” Glynn said.
