The OPP had shut down the northbound lanes from Highway 11 to Forbes Road; one person was airlifted to a trauma center with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Update (11:20 a. m.): The OPP reports that the northbound lanes of Highway 400, between Highway 11 and Forbes Road, have reopened after this morning’s accident.

Authorities say one individual was taken to a trauma center with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.

ORIGINAL STORY

A stretch of Highway 400 was closed north of Barrie earlier today for an investigation into a collision.

The Ontario Provincial Police stated that the northbound lanes were blocked off between Highway 11 and Forbes Road in Springwater Township starting around 8 a. m.

Police indicated that injuries had been reported and were being evaluated at the scene.

Drivers were advised to steer clear of the area by using different routes since a “prolonged closure” was anticipated for both the investigation and cleanup efforts.

Barrie Today will share more updates as information comes in.
