Victoria Day brings some typical closures around Durham Region.

Essentials

All facilities operated by Durham Regional will be closed.

Banks won’t be open, but you can use ATMs and online banking services.

You won’t find Canada Post open, so there will be no mail collection or delivery.

Major grocery stores are closed, but it’s a good idea to check with your local independent grocer.

The Beer Store locations in Pickering (705 Kingston Rd.), Ajax (75 Kingston Rd. E.), Whitby (301 Dundas St. E), and Oshawa (200 Ritson Rd. N.) will be open from 11 a. m. to 6 p. m.

Select LCBO locations will also have their doors open. It’s wise to check online or call ahead to ensure your nearest store is available.

Fun & Recreation

The Oshawa Centre is open for business.

The Shops at Pickering City Centre will be closed.

The Eaton Centre and Vaughan Mills are both welcoming visitors.

A variety of attractions in Toronto are open, including the Toronto Zoo, CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, Royal Ontario Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario, and Hockey Hall of Fame.

You can catch a movie at Landmark Cinemas in Whitby or Cineplex Cinemas Pickering and Cineplex Odeon Clarington/Oshawa as they’re all operating normally.

Public Transit

This weekend schedule applies to Durham Transit services.

A Saturday schedule is in effect for GO Transit as well.

TTC will run on a Sunday service schedule starting around 6 a. m.

waste Collection

In Whitby and Oshawa, waste collection service won’t happen on Victoria Day. Garbage, green bin, and blue box pickups will shift forward one day after your regular collection day.
