Highway 11 was closed for several hours in Oro-Medonte due to the crash between the school bus and the passenger vehicle, leading to a backlog of traffic in cottage country.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, they received reports about a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 11 between Lines 2 and 3 at approximately 1:40 p. m.
The highway needed to be closed so crews from the Ministry of Transportation could repair the guardrail and clear debris from the roadway.

As a result of the closure, many drivers heading toward Highway 400 had to use secondary roads which caused heavier-than-normal traffic in parts of Barrie.
“Orillia OPP would like to remind motorists to leave ample space while driving, should emergency braking measures be needed and while driving through rural areas, always be aware of your surroundings and the potential of wildlife,” police added in a news release.
