NEWS RELEASE
HALTON REGIONAL POLICE SERVICE
***********************
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has taken three men into custody and filed several charges following a car theft investigation early Sunday morning in Oakville.

At around 2:30 a. m. on Sunday, officers were patrolling the area when they noticed a blue Ford F150 and a white Lincoln Aviator parked in a commercial driveway near Third Line and Wyecroft Road. As the officers got closer to the vehicles, they saw three suspects getting into the Lincoln Aviator, which then sped off onto the QEW.

By approximately 2:45 a. m., officers found the Lincoln Aviator at 1 Canadian Road (Ford Plant), where the suspects were trying to steal a black Ford Expedition. The three male suspects were swiftly arrested without any issues.

As a result of this investigation:

Ahmed Shkais (30), who has no fixed address, faces the following charges:

· Possess Property Obtained by Crime – over $5000 (2 Counts) · Theft of Motor Vehicle · Flight from Peace Officer · Operation While Prohibited · Possess Break In Instruments · Possess Automobile Master Key · Fail to Comply Being on a Release Order · Fail to Comply Being on a Probation Order

A 16-year-old male from Mississauga is charged with:

· Possess Property Obtained by Crime – over $5000 (2 Counts) · Theft of Motor Vehicle · Possess Break In Instruments · Possess Automobile Master Key · Fail to Comply Being on a Release Order

A 17-year-old male also from Mississauga faces these charges:

· Possess Property Obtained by Crime – over $5000 (2 Counts) · Theft of Motor Vehicle · Possess Break In Instruments · Possess Automobile Master Key

It’s worth noting that both Shkais and the 16-year-old were out on release for similar offenses at the time of their arrest.

All three individuals are being held in custody while they await their respective bail hearings in Milton.

Further investigation revealed that the Lincoln Aviator was stolen from Peel Region, while the Ford F150 had been taken from Burlington’s Hampton Inn and Suites just before it was spotted by patrol officers.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y. C. J. A.) prohibits releasing the names of young individuals, so their identities remain confidential.

If anyone has information about this case, please reach out to the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2216.

You can also provide tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers. “See something? Hear something? Know something? Contact Crime Stoppers” at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or visit www. haltoncrimestoppers. ca.
