A 24-year-old man from Loyalist Township has been charged following a sexual assault investigation in Amherstview, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
Officers from the Lennox and Addington (L& A) County Detachment were called to a parking lot in Amherstview on the morning of June 7 after receiving a report about a sexual assault. Investigators indicate that the victim and the accused had interacted previously before this incident.
Authorities state that the victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
As a result of their findings, police have charged Eric Barlow of Loyalist Township with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault causing bodily harm, and sexual assault resulting in bodily harm involving choking, suffocation or strangulation.
The suspect was released from custody after a bail hearing. He is set to appear in court at a later date.
Police mention that the investigation is still ongoing.
