Provincial police are looking into a deadly multi-vehicle accident that occurred this morning on Highway 8 close to Hamilton. OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt reported that emergency responders were called to the scene at 5:30 a. m.
According to provincial police, they are investigating after a fatal multi-vehicle collision on Highway 8 near Hamilton this morning.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt mentioned that emergency crews arrived at the scene at 5:30 a. m.
The accident involved a tractor trailer and two cars, with one of the vehicles catching fire.
Schmidt stated that one individual was pronounced dead at the location and another was taken to the hospital with injuries that aren’t life-threatening.
The highway was shut down for several hours between Orkney Road and Highway 52 near Rockton.
Schmidt urged anyone who saw what happened or has information to reach out to the OPP.
“It was dark and still foggy, a bit misty at times,” he shared in a social media update.
“We are looking into road conditions, weather conditions, driver condition.”
