As May wraps up, expect sunny weather with mild temperatures, making it feel like a summer weekend packed with activities in the area.

Awakened Voices Narratives: The Queen’s Bush Edition shares the stories of early Black settlers in Ontario through engaging performances and music.

This Saturday’s show highlights the Queen’s Bush Settlement, situated at the border of Waterloo region and Wellington county, which was home to many free and formerly enslaved Black residents. The performance starts at 3 p. m. at Gale Presbyterian Church in Elmira.

A Magic and Shenanigans tour is happening in uptown Waterloo. This ticketed walking tour features a comedic guide taking you to various spots where magicians will entertain and amaze attendees.

The much-loved Waterloo Art Market returns! Join on Friday from 5 p. m. to 9 p. m. at Waterloo Public Square, where over 100 local artists, crafters, and makers will showcase their work alongside live music from local musicians.

The Ward Night Market kicks off its first outdoor event of the year on Friday night from 6 p. m. to 10 p. m. on Ontario Street in Guelph, featuring local artisans, vintage goods, art, food, music, and more.

The Waterloo Potters’ Workshop is hosting their Celebrate Summer sale on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m., located within Waterloo Park inside the Jacob Eby Farmhouse.

If you’re headed to Fergus, don’t miss the Meadows Music Festival running Friday and Saturday. Country night on Friday features Cameron Whitcomb and Dallas Smith among others. On Saturday enjoy acts like Yukon Blonde, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Wild Rivers, Soft Cult and Arkells.

The Kitchener Panthers will be playing in Chatham on Friday night before moving next door to Guelph on Saturday afternoon for another game against Hamilton that Sunday afternoon.

After facing off against the Panthers at home on Saturday, the Guelph Royals will head over to London for a game Sunday afternoon.

New Hamburg Mennonite Relief Sale

Friday 5:30 p. m. to 9 p. m., Saturday 7:30 a. m. to early afternoon

The quilt auction stands out as a highlight of this annual gathering; however there’s plenty more going on including a hymn sing, pancake breakfast, craft tents, a charity run for kids featuring a petting zoo plus pet-a-puppy sessions along with an outdoor auction filled with items for both work and play.

Saturday 11 a. m. to 4 p. m.

This free event organized by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Waterloo celebrates joy and togetherness through meditative sound vibrations via kirtan along with mantra bathing experiences. Enjoy cultural performances live along with yoga sessions plus prasad-a complimentary vegetarian feast!

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Waterloo is celebrating its third annual Chariot Fest this Saturday. The event will take place at Waterloo Park where people can join activities such as a chariot parade alongside mantra bathing experiences capped off by enjoying a vegetarian feast together as well! Paramraj Bhatt-council member for ISKCON Waterloo-joined The Morning Edition host Craig Norris for insights into their organization plus details about their upcoming celebration.

Kitchener Electronic Music Open Mic [KEMOM]

The Tri City Synthesizer Society hosts an open mic inviting everyone who loves synth sounds paired with cold beers plus snacks while musicians perform short sets lasting between twenty-five thirty minutes long! There’s even a synthesizer petting zoo available offering hands-on experience too-all ages welcome here! Tickets may be purchased or patrons can pay what they can upon arrival!
