A 46-year-old man has died following what authorities believe was a “targeted” home invasion in Vaughan early Sunday, according to York Regional Police.

The victim has been identified as Abdul Aleem Farooqi, as noted in a news release on Sunday.

Officers were called to a residence near Andreeta Drive and Barons Street around 1 a. m., police reported in the news release.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an individual who had suffered “trauma to his body.” Despite attempts at lifesaving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, as stated in the release.

The homicide unit is currently handling the investigation.

Authorities are searching for at least three suspects who were described as wearing dark clothing and face coverings during the incident.

Residents are advised to avoid the area while investigations are ongoing, police mentioned in a social media update.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or any security footage from the vicinity is urged to reach out to York Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
