A motorcyclist has died and another person was injured in a crash involving a motorcycle in Scarborough on Monday afternoon.
The incident took place in the Malvern area, close to Markham Road and Nugget Avenue, just north of Sheppard Avenue East.
Toronto police reported that they were alerted to the scene just before 2 p. m. regarding a multi-vehicle collision that included a motorcycle.
According to police, a 42-year-old man was riding a black Honda motorcycle westbound when a 53-year-old woman driving a green Ford Fusion made a left turn into a private driveway and collided with the motorcycle.
“The Ford Fusion then struck a third vehicle, a black Dodge Hornet being driven by a 25-year-old male, that was stationary in the driveway waiting to exit onto Nugget Avenue,” police stated in an official news release on Tuesday.
The motorcyclist was quickly taken to the hospital in critical condition but unfortunately later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Ford Fusion was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Dodge Hornet did not sustain any injuries, according to police.
“The circumstances surrounding the collision will be part of the ongoing investigation,” an officer said in a follow-up email to Toronto.
