Three tornadoes have now been confirmed in the London, Ont., area during last week’s severe thunderstorms, according to the Northern Tornadoes Project.
The third tornado touched down southwest of Ingersoll in South-West Oxford at 6:10 p. m., reaching maximum sustained winds of 125 km/h, placing it in the EF0 range on the Enhanced Fujita scale, said researchers from Western University.
An NTP survey team checked out the area on Tuesday and found a damage path that was 16.7 kilometres long and up to 400 metres wide at its widest point, starting along Salford Road just east of Hwy. 401 and ending north of Holbrook in Norwich.
“Damage to trees and minor damage to a house and barn were reported in the Salford area after a storm passed through. No injuries were reported,” reads a post on the NTP’s blog.
This same storm also spawned two other tornadoes in Lambeth and Melbourne shortly before, along with a downburst that caused widespread damage to trees and homes in east London while knocking out power for many residents.
The tornado in Melbourne, located southwest of London, hit at 5:30 p. m. with maximum wind speeds reaching 115 km/h, categorizing it as an EF0 tornado.
NTP researchers noted that this tornado had a track length of 7.87 kilometres with a maximum width of 300 metres, causing harm to trees and farm buildings in the vicinity.
A second tornado formed just fifteen minutes later near Westdel Bourne and Longwoods Road in Lambeth, creating a path across southern Ontario that measured 26 kilometres long and peaked at 600 metres wide.
This twister was rated EF1 with maximum winds hitting 145 km/h, resulting in damages to power poles, trees, houses, and several agricultural areas. A transport truck was overturned as well; however, no injuries were recorded. Damage confirmed later in Derwent came from this same twister.

An EF1-rated downburst struck London’s east end damaging several homes and taking down multiple trees which led to power outages affecting thousands of residents around Clarke Road and Trafalgar Street for hours.
London Hydro reported that over 6,000 customers lost power during the peak of the storm.
This month also saw Canada’s first recorded tornado and downburst for 2026 occurring north of London earlier on.
