By 2026, over 1 billion people around the globe are using AI. In just three months, the number of Americans engaging with chatbots weekly rose to 63 percent from 52 percent.

However, no one seems to use AI as much as President Trump and his team. Almost daily, the White House shares new AI-generated content across its social media platforms.

So, what drives this aggressive social media presence, and has it truly changed American politics?

Performative Power

The first piece of AI propaganda from the White House has garnered nearly 40 million views since February 2025. In this post, the President is shown in front of the Manhattan skyline grinning widely with a crown atop his head, captioned: ‘Long live the king.’

‘The president uses social media to make a point,’ stated Mike Johnson, Speaker of the U. S. House of Representatives when asked about their meme-sharing habits. ‘You can argue he’s probably the most effective person who’s ever used social media for that.’

Other AI-crafted posts feature Trump in various powerful roles such as a conductor, pilot, superhero, Sith Lord, Pope, and even Jesus. Unsurprisingly, all these figures symbolize authority. Conductors guide orchestras; Sith ruled galaxies in Star Wars; the Pope stands as a key leader in Catholicism; and Jesus needs no introduction regarding his historical significance. Essentially, the White House is trying to portray Trump as an exceptional leader while suggesting his rivals can’t measure up.

Although somewhat caricature-like, these images are quite compelling. One action-movie-style post shows two patriotic eagles beside Trump as he strides into a ‘Golden Age.’ Another depicts a lion-a fierce animal-taking a selfie with him as if recognizing him as an equal. Even Trump’s Secretary of War Pete Hegseth shared an image featuring Franklin the Turtle armed with a bazooka to showcase America’s victory over drug cartels.

These posts reflect an administration filled with bravado and swagger. From insisting Greenland (or Iceland-what he often calls it) should be part of America to threatening tariffs against countries that don’t comply with U. S demands while treating conflicts like games played with ‘maximum lethality,’ Trump’s confrontational governance style dominates geopolitical discussions and hampers bipartisan efforts at home.

When he signed a record-breaking 152 consecutive orders at the start of his second term, Trump hinted at what was coming next. He has reversed many policies set by Joe Biden and even tried instructing Federal Reserve Chair on how to do their job while threatening funding cuts for universities labeled woke.

Yet beneath this loud show of power lies a significant shift happening behind the scenes. By portraying Donald Trump as royalty while ridiculing those involved in recent ‘No Kings’ protests, Trump’s administration is enabling him to reshape democratic institutions according to his preferences. He has even suggested running for president again in 2028 despite constitutional limits on terms served. This strongman approach yields mixed outcomes-while it helped achieve a fragile ceasefire in Gaza and reduced illegal immigration along southern borders (though it’s debatable how many migrants have been deterred), it also froze critical foreign aid resources and led communities into chaos due to ICE deportations while slashing medical research budgets amidst escalating tensions leading toward war with Iran-all putting countless lives at risk alongside increasing oil prices that threaten global food security.

The White House aims to project itself as all-powerful through these AI-generated visuals indicating nothing will obstruct America or its president’s ambitions-but many are left wondering about its implications.

Disrupting Democracy

It’s clear that artificial intelligence is being weaponized for political messaging across America now more than ever before-and we’re starting to see how biased users influence AI-generated content too! During New York City mayoral elections which Democrat Zohran Mamdani won ultimately back in November 2025 Republican candidate Andrew Cuomo posted deepfake footage implying criminal activity among Mamdani supporters featuring negative racial stereotypes quickly called out by critics among Cuomo’s followers numbering around 115k on X platform! Months later President faced backlash after sharing another controversial clip depicting figures within America’s political landscape styled akin characters from The Lion King series!

Why such outrage? Former president Barack Obama alongside wife Michelle appeared depicted offensively resembling primates here-a derogatory trope dating back centuries when utilized dehumanizing darker-skinned Africans justifying their enslavement practices historically! More troublingly one powerful figure either neglected reviewing said content or deemed appropriate showing Obamas resembling monkey-like creatures! The post remained visible online roughly twelve hours before removal occurred; however frustration grew further since apologies weren’t offered instead attributing fault upon junior staff member responsible generating video initially!

Fearing the Future

Looking ahead Gen-AI will likely become increasingly vital spanning numerous sectors moving forward-currently wielded politicians boosting campaign efforts coordinating strikes targeting enemies alike lacking maturity reflecting usage summed succinctly via anonymous senior white house official stating ‘We’re over here just grinding away on banger memes dude’ according reports from Politico! Ordinary citizens naturally express concerns regarding impacts upon everyday life decision-making particularly voting behavior overall too!

A survey conducted by You Gov back during 2025 found approximately fifty-two percent Americans fearing potential ramifications stemming from AIs capacity spread politically charged propaganda furthermore Pew Research Center revealed only nine percent believe such tech could yield positive election outcomes finally highlighting dire situation surrounding US democracy so extreme Staffan Lindberg founder Varieties Democracy Institute Gothenburg University declared witnessing ’the most severe magnitude democratic backsliding ever country.’ Meanwhile administration continues churning out content rife prejudices misinformation narratives disguised clever visualizations aimed manipulation public perception!
