The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into the deaths of two individuals found in a Burlington, Ont., home early Tuesday morning.
According to a news release from the SIU, Halton Regional Police officers were called to a residence on Cornerstone Drive, near Dundas Street, around 12:30 a. m. following several 911 calls reporting a disturbance.
SIU spokesperson Kristy Denette informed reporters at the scene that when police arrived, a 28-year-old man ran upstairs. Upon locating him, he had sustained a “self-inflicted injury, believed to have been caused by a knife.”
Denette mentioned that officers tried to arrest the man and provided life-saving measures before calling for paramedics; unfortunately, he died at the scene.
Halton police told that there was an interaction between officers and the man which led to the SIU investigation.

According to Denette, she has since been discharged from hospital. Denette added she’s unsure where the 911 calls came from. “There wasn’t anyone on the other line. I think there were some voices that were heard on the other line,” she explained.
