The family of Dr. Helen E. Williams shares the heartbreaking news of her sudden passing on May 21, as she has gone to be with her Lord and Saviour.
Born Helen Elizabeth Pervitin to Finnish immigrants Boris and Toini Pervitin, she grew up in Etobicoke, Ontario with her sister Anne Marie. From a young age, Helen’s eagerness to learn was matched by her amazing musical talent. She managed to complete a piano performance degree at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto while also obtaining her undergraduate and Doctor of Dentistry degrees at the University of Toronto, showing her incredible discipline and commitment. It was during this time that she met her husband Craig R. Williams. The two married in 1980 and established their home in Barrie, Ontario, where they created a family dental practice together.
Helen truly embodied the spirit of healing. Her kindness extended far beyond her practice walls to include those often overlooked, such as patients with special needs and children from Chernobyl who received care through a relief program she supported for many years.
Her greatest joy came from her relationship with Jesus Christ and studying Scripture, both in quiet moments alone and within her church community. In her final moments, Helen was not alone; Craig was right there when she first fell ill and stayed close as she received gentle care at RVH in the hours that followed. She passed peacefully into eternity surrounded by all those who loved her.
She is survived by her husband Craig and their cherished daughters Janna (married to James Mathews) and Elle.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Legacy Funeral Home, 55 Cedar Point Drive, Barrie, Ontario, (entrance and parking on hwy 400 side of building) on Friday, June 12, starting with visitation at 2:00 p. m., followed by a service in the chapel at 4:00 p. m.
If you’d like to honor Helen’s memory, donations can be made to Radical Ministries at radical. net to “make Jesus known everywhere.”
