York Regional Police (YRP) are seeking witnesses following a hit-and-run incident involving a motorcycle and a transport truck in Markham that left a 30-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.
Officers responded to the intersection of Woodbine Avenue and John Street around 6:30 p. m. on Wednesday after receiving reports of an accident between a motorcycle and a large commercial truck.
The motorcyclist, who is from Markham, was quickly taken to the hospital due to his critical condition.
According to investigators, the driver of the transport truck did not stay at the scene. Police have since found the truck, but they haven’t released any information about the driver or if any arrests have been made.
The Major Collision Investigation Unit has taken charge of the case and is looking into what led up to the accident.
Authorities are urging anyone who was nearby at that time – especially drivers with dash cam footage – to step forward.
The investigation is still ongoing.
