More than 15 months after his disappearance from a resort town north of Montreal, Liam Toman’s family is returning to Mont-Tremblant this weekend in hopes of finding answers.
“We feel that there is a bit of a code of silence there in the Tremblant community,” Toman’s father Chris said in an interview before the search.
“It’s a great community, but we think that there’s a couple of people that know what’s going on.
“We say somebody knows something.”
The man from Whitby, Ont., was just 22 when he went missing on Feb. 2, 2025. He was in Mont-Tremblant with friends and vanished after spending a day skiing and partying in Tremblant village.
Toman was last seen on surveillance footage around 3:20 a. m. His wallet was discovered in March 2025 in a nearby parking lot.

While there’s been no sign of Toman online or any activity in his bank accounts since that night, his family remains hopeful.
Last November, an anonymous donor pledged up to $50,000 to encourage anyone with information to come forward. Sun Youth is managing the reward, which will expire on May 20 but will be renewed every six months “until Liam is found,” his family told CBC after meeting with Sun Youth.
This weekend, they’ll have support from SARCAN K9, a volunteer group training dogs for cadaver detection and search and rescue efforts. The organization has enlisted 90 volunteers ready to assist with the search this weekend.

Shiva is the most experienced dog among the three participating this weekend. Alexia Pietrantonio, one of the trainers, says their best cadaver detection dog is the 10-year-old Belgian Malinois.
Pietrantonio mentioned they want to do everything possible to help ease some burdens for the family.
“They’re just so involved in it and it’s completely normal, but I really have a lot of respect and admiration for that because they’re not letting go. They’re over there. They’re from Ontario and they’re over there in Tremblant just interacting with people, spreading the news, trying to get everyone to look out,” she said.
“I just support them and this is why we do this.”
This marks the second time the Toman family has collaborated with SARCAN K9; during their last effort in fall, they focused on parking areas but plan to explore more wooded spaces this time around.
As part of the Circle of Strength campaign, the family will hand out new blue bracelets in Tremblant this weekend. (Submitted by the Toman family)

Toman Family Aims for Broader Impact
Apart from specialized searches, the Toman family has also been exploring other avenues like new forensic technology and analysis tools. Even though Toman’s phone hasn’t been located yet, his stepmother Lara said they are independently working alongside groups specializing in digital forensics who might uncover fresh leads. “All these new technical pieces that we’re just learning all about,” said Lara. “The other thing is that we don’t just think of Liam; we’re thinking about all missing children and people out there because there’s so many.” Lara added they have been advocating for improved safety measures within both the resort association and village authorities. The resort has been very supportive according to the family and will showcase some recent security upgrades during their visit this weekend. The Toman family plans to share these updates on their Facebook page as well as their website www. Liam Toman. com over the coming week. The family will also kick off their Circle of Strength campaign by distributing new blue wristbands along with updated photos of Toman since older ones have faded throughout winter.
The goal is to raise awareness further while ensuring Liam’s name stays part of conversations especially given how transient Mont-Tremblant can be.Toman was last seen wearing a black Volcom coat with brown spots along with black snow pants, a green t-shirt layered under plaid shirt, a white hat featuring dark stripes, and brown work boots complete with black toe caps.
The search party will gather at Tour des Voyageurs Saturday morning at 9 a. m., continuing until around 5 p. m. on both days throughout this weekend.
