After more than thirty years, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest in a first-degree murder case linked to a cold case from 1991.

Angelien Josephine Quesnelle, 40, was last seen in Peterborough around noon on October 7, 1991. Two days later, the Belleville OPP reported her missing. Despite thorough searches at the time, she was never found.

On November 10, 1991, her car was discovered abandoned in a quarry near Ridge Road and Highway 620, east of Coe Hill in Bancroft, Ontario.

A search of the area revealed several of her personal items.

Five days later, on November 15, a hunter stumbled upon her body on Mc Coy Bay Road. A postmortem examination conducted in Toronto confirmed that she had been murdered.

After decades of investigations by the Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit, police arrested David Alexander Snow, age 70, from Bath, Ontario on June 19, 2025. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

A spokesperson for the force verified that this suspect is also the man convicted for the murders of Toronto couple Ian and Nancy Blackburn in 1992 and other crimes committed in British Columbia.

Snow is currently serving a life sentence for the Blackburn murders. The new charge against him has yet to be proven in court.

“Angelien Quesnelle was murdered in 1991 and, for 34 years, her family has lived without answers,” said OPP Detective Inspector Shawn Glassford.

“OPP investigators have never stopped investigating this murder. This arrest represents an important step toward providing Angelien’s family and the community of Apsley with the long-awaited answers they deserve.”

Snow remains behind bars and is set to appear in court in Peterborough on August 12, 2025.
