Five individuals were hospitalized after a two-car accident involving an unmarked Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser in Peterborough on Sunday.
The incident occurred near Highway 7/Highway 115 and Television Road,
according to Peterborough County OPP, who received a call around 1:40 p. m. about the crash involving an unmarked OPP cruiser being driven by an on-duty officer.
The other vehicle involved was a pickup truck that had four civilians inside, they reported.
Officials stated that some people involved in the accident suffered minor injuries, while others were evaluated and taken to a local hospital as a “precautionary measure.”
The intersection of Highway 7/Highway 115 and Television Road was shut down for several hours as emergency services managed the situation and collision reconstruction officers took measurements and documented the scene.
The cause of this accident is still under investigation.
