Family Health Teams throughout Wellington County are sharing over $4.47 million in provincial funding to help more than 12,000 additional people access primary care.

Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae announced the funding on Thursday for the Guelph Wellington Ontario Health Team, which will distribute the funds among the family health teams in the area.

This financial support will extend to Midwestern Ontario, as some of it will be allocated to the Mount Forest Family Health Team Inc. and the Minto-Mapleton Family Health Team.

“This investment will connect more than 12,000 people to primary care, closer to home,” said Rae. “Access to a primary care provider should be simple and this funding delivers for rural communities in Wellington North, Minto, and Mapleton.”

Information about how to find a primary care provider in the area can be found at https://guelphwellingtonoht. com/.
