September 22, 1955 – January 29, 2026
Heaven welcomed another angel, our dear mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Pat (Patsy) Baker, who peacefully left us on January 29, 2026 at the age of 70, surrounded by her family’s love.
Pat was born on September 22, 1955, in Nakina, Ontario. She moved to Thunder Bay with her mother and brothers when she was young. It was there that she created the life and community connections that shaped her path. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Peterson and James Thompson; her first love and husband, Chuck Baker; her newborn sister; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Nesbitt; and several sisters- and brothers-in-law.
Pat and Chuck were high school sweethearts who tied the knot on April 30, 1977. Together they built a beautiful life while raising two wonderful daughters, Stacey and Tammy. Later in life, Pat found love again with her devoted partner Bruce Nesbitt (Grandpa Bruce), enjoying a joyful 25 years together filled with laughter.
Throughout her life, Pat exemplified quiet strength and kindness towards everyone she loved. She dedicated herself deeply to her children and grandchildren as well as to her community. Her warm smile made everyone feel at home; she had a unique ability to make people feel valued.
Pat generously volunteered for many local organizations and spent over three decades at the Current River Community Centre as both a volunteer and employee. Whether organizing events or assisting with community programs, Pat’s selflessness left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her hard work reflected her belief that kindness could truly make the world better.
Family meant everything to Pat. She took immense pride in Stacey and Tammy as well as adored her three grandchildren-Carter, Hunter, and Lilliana-who brought so much joy into her life. Every moment spent with them was special for Pat as she cheered them on at hockey games or supported their education while watching them blossom into amazing young individuals. Her unconditional love will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Pat is fondly remembered by daughters Stacey (Matt) and Tammy (Jake); partner Bruce Nesbitt; brothers Alex (Cecelia), Fred, Billy, Edwin (Gini), and TJ (Lori); beloved grandchildren Carter, Hunter, Lilliana; along with numerous cherished friends nieces & nephews.
Her legacy carries themes of compassion & strength along with countless memories that will never fade away. The gentle spirit of Pat paired with an unwavering work ethic will continue to motivate those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.
In keeping with Pat’s wishes a private celebration of life will take place later at Current River Community Centre-a location close to heart where she dedicated so much time & energy.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the wonderful nurses & doctors for their compassionate care towards our mom (Crystal Hannah Sophie Abby Dr. Ibrahim). In lieu of flowers donations made in Pat’s name can go directly toward Current River Community Centre which would mean so much.
Forever in our hearts Mom/Grandma
your love will continue guiding us
and your strength & kindness will always shine through.
