Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a 45-year-old man from Simcoe, charging him with second-degree murder after his mother was discovered dead at her home last Sunday. Authorities are also looking for another individual who they believe may be another victim.
Detectives report that the investigation started on the morning of October 5, when officers responded to a residence on Head Street South and found the body of 71-year-old Barbara Morgan.
A postmortem exam revealed that her death was ruled a homicide.
Police took Barbara’s son, Justin Morgan, into custody and charged him with second-degree murder on Friday. However, there is still concern for another person linked to this case.
Investigators are worried about the safety of 49-year-old Robert Sykes, who was last seen walking on Head Street South on October 4.
Sykes is described as a white male, about 5’10” tall and weighing around 120 lbs. He has long dirty blond hair usually tied back in a ponytail and sports a long beard or goatee.
The OPP state their investigation is ongoing but do not believe there’s any current threat to public safety.
