Mrs. Alice Ettie Dickinson (nee Vezina), aged 89, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Alice was born in Fort William, ON, on April 3, 1936. She went to school in a one-room schoolhouse in Stanley. In 1947, her family moved to Montreal’s South Shore. During the late 1940s, she worked at Woods MFG making paper bags. In the early 1950s, Alice took a job at Northern Electric refurbishing phones. In 1955 she met Andrew and they got married in 1956. They welcomed their only child Wendie in 1964. In 1970 Alice began working for Eaton’s in Montreal and earned six diplomas as a certified mastectomy fitter. In 1981, she moved back to Thunder Bay with her husband and daughter and worked for Shoppers Home Health Care and the Red Cross Homemakers. In 1984 Alice became a Nana to Chris who brought her immense joy; she always referred to him as Christopher George and loved him dearly. Sadly, Andrew passed away in 2010. Later on, Alice found companionship with Allan Shaw and they moved to Fort Frances where they enjoyed their home and spent countless hours fishing together. Eventually, they returned to Thunder Bay where Allan also passed away in 2020. Mom truly cherished her time spent with family, friends, and neighbors.

My mother’s words were always: “Never fear death; death makes way for new life as the circle keeps going.”

Alice will be fondly remembered by her daughter Wendie Lemieux (Nelson), grandson Christopher, great-grandson Sebastian, siblings Bernadine Hoey (Marty), Adeline Guay (Morris), and Gene Vezina (Luc), along with many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel located at 21 N Court Street. Interment will follow at Stanley Hill Cemetery. If friends wish to honor her memory with donations, contributions can be made to any local charity or one of your choice.

Online condolences can be shared at www. sargentandson. com.
