Toronto police have shared an update regarding a parental abduction case involving a man from Whitby.
A father was sought on charges of parental abduction after authorities reported that he took his three-year-old son to Delhi, India in July 2024 and did not return.
The two were supposed to come back by the court-mandated date of August 8, 2024.
Police issued a warrant for Kapil Sunak, 48, who resides in Ashburn.
Investigators arranged for his return to Canada, and he was taken into custody at Pearson Airport upon his arrival on Tuesday.
He faces charges for abducting a child under 14 years in violation of a court order.
