Residents of Blenheim can now step outside again after Chatham-Kent (CK) police enforced lockdowns throughout the area.
Blenheim District High School, Harwich Raleigh Public School, and W. J. Baird Public School were put on lockdown Tuesday morning as police urged the public to remain indoors while they looked into a possible threat.
Worries arose when someone reported seeing a man with a gun. Police later discovered that the weapon was actually a BB gun.
“The safety and well-being of students and staff remain the highest priority,” a statement from the Lambton-Kent District School Board said. “School administrators are grateful for the swift response and guidance provided by Chatham-Kent Police Service, as well as the cooperation of students, staff, families, and the broader community.”
In the coming days, residents might see some officers in the area as they continue to investigate.
