If you’ve been saving up your empty alcohol cans and bottles, you’ll want to head over to the Beer Store this Wednesday.

To celebrate Earth Day, the Beer Store is giving an extra 20 percent on the standard $0.10 and $0.20 deposit for alcohol containers bought in Ontario.

“Annually millions of people return around 1.6 billion empty alcohol containers for reuse and recycling,” said Beer Store President Roy Benin. “In recognition of Earth Day, we want to invite people to visit a Beer Store to get 20 per cent more in deposit money back.”

You can return empty wine, spirit, and beer containers purchased in Ontario, but kegs won’t be included in this offer.

This special Earth Day promotion only applies to containers returned directly at Beer Store locations, not those taken to authorized empty container dealers.

You can find your nearest store by using the locator on the Beer Store website. On thebeerstore. ca homepage, click on ‘returning empties’ from the navigation bar, then select ‘where to return empties’ from the drop-down menu.

Throughout its nearly 100 years of service, more than 170 billion empty alcohol containers have been returned to the Beer Store for reuse or recycling.
